ProFlow FAQ
What is LEVELMAX ProFlow used for?
LEVELMAX ProFlow is a high-performance cement-based self-levelling compound designed to correct uneven substrates and create a smooth, durable base for floor coverings. It is suitable for internal floors and protected external applications where the levelling layer will be covered with a suitable floor finish.
What substrates can ProFlow be applied over?
ProFlow can be used over suitably prepared concrete slabs, screeds and existing ceramic tiles. The substrate must be clean, sound, dry, structurally solid and free from dust, oil, grease, wax, paint, curing compounds, laitance and adhesive residues.
Can ProFlow be used as a final floor surface?
No. ProFlow is not designed to be an exposed final wearing surface. It must be covered with a suitable floor finish such as tiles, vinyl, timber or carpet after the required drying and preparation conditions are met.
What thickness can LEVELMAX ProFlow be applied at?
LEVELMAX ProFlow can be applied from 1 mm to 40 mm per coat. Coverage will vary depending on the required thickness, substrate profile and site wastage.
How much water should be mixed with one 20 kg bag?
Mix one 20 kg bag of LEVELMAX ProFlow with 4.8 litres of clean, cool water. Slowly add the powder while mixing at low speed, then mix for 2-3 minutes until smooth and lump-free. Allow the mix to stand for 2 minutes, then remix briefly before application.
How long is the working time after mixing?
At approximately 23°C, ProFlow has a working time of around 20-30 minutes. Higher temperatures can shorten the working time, so only mix as much material as can be placed within that window.
When can the surface take light foot traffic?
Under normal conditions at approximately 23°C and 50% relative humidity, ProFlow can accept light foot traffic after about 3 hours. Site temperature, ventilation, substrate condition and application thickness can affect this timing.
When can floor coverings be installed over ProFlow?
Before installing floor coverings, refer to the latest TDS and contact our technical team to confirm the waiting time for your site conditions. Application thickness, substrate moisture, temperature and humidity can affect when the surface is ready.
Is ProFlow compatible with underfloor heating?
Yes. LEVELMAX ProFlow is suitable for use with underfloor heating systems when the substrate, priming, application thickness and flooring installation follow the relevant project requirements and product instructions.
Does the substrate need to be primed before applying ProFlow?
Yes. All substrates should be primed with a suitable acrylic primer approved for cement-based self-levelling compounds. For best performance, use LEVELMAX Primer X. For timber substrates, use LEVELMAX Primer X-Timber or an approved timber primer system.
What is the approximate coverage per 20 kg bag?
Coverage depends on thickness. As a guide, one 20 kg bag covers approximately 2.4 m² at 5 mm, 1.2 m² at 10 mm, 0.6 m² at 20 mm, 0.4 m² at 30 mm and 0.3 m² at 40 mm.
What safety precautions are required when using ProFlow?
ProFlow is a cement-based powder and wet mix with an approximate pH of 12. It may cause skin irritation, serious eye damage, allergic skin reaction and respiratory irritation. Wear suitable gloves, protective clothing, eye or face protection and respiratory protection, and avoid breathing dust.
